Summaries of Pgs 2-3 Mr. Alvord

Arthur Miller was considered as a pre-eminent American play writer of the 2nd half of the 20th century. He was born in New York City at year 1915. He died in the year of 2005 from old age. His father manufactured women's coats and his mother was a school teacher. In high school he was more of a sports fanatic, not involved with literature. He applied for the University of Michigan but his grades weren't good enough. To make college money he worked at a automobile parts plant for two years. That gave him enough money to write A Memory of Two Mondays. He later went to University of Michigan and worked few jobs to keep up with his tuition. He eventually returned to New York and wrote radio scripts. His first Broadway success was All My Sons. He then wrote The Crucible.

Arthur Miller had few reasons why he wrote the most produced play, The Crucible. He watched the movie and questioned it. Knowing China was lost and Europe and would soon be lost, because of the State Department was full of treasonous pro-Soviet intellectuals. The Crucible was basically written from an act of desperation. Miller visited Salem and read the transcripts of witch craft trials. Abigail was Parris's niece. Proctor cast a spell on Abigail and her fingers began to burn. He saw the opportunity to write the play from this story.

What I Live By

What I Live By

There have been many times, in my life, when someone has asked me "What are you going to do with your life?" or "What are you going to do when you get out of school?" To be honest, I have no idea. I don’t know what my future holds or who I will become. Thinking about this, I have broken down some things to help me along my way to my future. Following this is my statements of beliefs, desires, and my motivations of what I stand for and what I live by that keeps me going every day.
  • You’re on your own. When you’re doing something you’re not supposed to be doing to be a little daredevil, with your friends, NEVER turn back for them. RUN!
  • I Promise. For my academics and for myself to stay in school and always try for the best I can be.
  • Be a dream chaser. NEVER let the candle of dreams get blown out by giving up or by someone else; you’re in control of your own dreams.
  • NEVER let go of family. No matter what happens NEVER let conflicts come in the way of love with your family.
  • When in doubt, buy Chipotle. It always hits the spot and it clears out your . . mind.
  • Be the leader. Lead with respect and leadership to others looking up to you.
  • Forgive. Don’t hold on to that lie or shove your peer gave you.
  • DON’T do unto others as they would do to you. It could get ugly…
  • Let God in. DON’T let others determine your faith. Only you know what you truly believe in.
  • Take advantage. If your friend or family member offers for you to do something, go for it!
  • Make and follow your goals. DON’T let them go away. You make and have goals for a reason.
  • Do what you want to do. Follow yourself and your conscious.
  • If someone follows you on Twitter, follow back. It’s the respectful thing to do.
  • Study. Take notes. You never know when the teacher will say open up your notes for an open note quiz!
  • Train every day. When you’re not training somebody else is getting better.
  • Use hash tags. #itmakesyoulookcool
  • Inspire while being inspired. Inspire others so they can come back and inspire you.
  • Honesty CAN be the best policy. Some situations require that little bit of dishonesty.
  • Why not? The question to everything…
  • Don’t let time slip away. Quit staring at the clock. That clock is your time clicking by.
  • You’re only as old as you say you are. Who wants to be old? Stay young!
  • Never buy items from street booths in New York. It’s fake. Trust me.
  • Let motivation in! Motivate, motivation, motivated.
  • Remember the four L’s. Listen. Learn. Love. Life.
  • Heads or Tails? Always pick Tails. In the long run, he’s better that Sonic, any day.
  • When the hand is up your quiet. No matter where your at.
  • Text. It keeps you informed!
  • Always go above expectations. if there is practice cancelled one day, practice on your own.
  • DON'T let the past define you. Focus on the present and the future.
  • Show your STVM sweater swag. Enough said.
  • Whit shirt Wednesdays? Follow it.
  • Take life seriously. You never know what tomorrow brings, therefore cherish it.
  • Express yourself! DON'T let yourself be that creepy kid in the front of the bus. Let yourself be heard.
  • NEVER give up. Death is scary, it really is. So, live your life to the fullest everyday.
  • Lastly, Be a dare devil.
  •                                                                                                                                     As shown above, there are many ways I live and stand for. I wouldn't take any of these back if I had to. They are all worth it and I feel they will help me in the future. So start now, you NEVER know how much time you really have left.
